What can I say about the Great British Summer… well, let’s just say it’s unpredictable! After enjoying a week or two of luscious May Sunshine, the shorts and flip flops went back into the closet at the beginning of June to welcome what we can only call, a complete wash out! Ironically, as I write, I can hear the raindrops falling outside. On a positive note; we do have two more summer months to contend with and I’m hopeful that we’ll see temperatures soar once again. So, with this in mind, along with BBQ’s, drinks in the Garden with Friends and Family and a long weekend in August to look forward to, we’ll all be thinking about our outdoor areas, if we haven’t already! Maybe its time for Spray Painting Outdoor Furniture!!
What shall I do with my Outdoor Furniture?
It either gets shoved away in the shed and covered with cobwebs or it gets a battering from the rain, wind and snow during the harsh winter months. Furniture starts off looking fresh but it can soon begin to suffer as the elements take their toll. So rather than buying new, why not revamp what you already have? Painting old furniture is an easy way to get a fabulous, unique, solid and hard-wearing piece that’s good and suits your individual taste & décor.
Here are a few Garden furniture trends to think about in 2012:
– Don’t buy new, buy second hand. Popular styles include antique, vintage and retro and can be found in local second hand shops or through popular online sites such as eBay.
– Grey is the new black and is particularly effective on wicker.
– Add colourful accessories, top colours include: Rich Red, Vivid Blue, Soothing Neutrals and Garden Inspired Greens. – Metal accents – detailing in Gold and Silver.
– Lighting – Make your outdoor space come alive once the sun goes down with table lights, garden torches, LED or Solar lights.
– Painted Decking.
Although tempting to buy brand new, especially as there are so many lovely designs out there, upcycling something you already have can give you a sense of achievement and not to mention a great sense of well-being of being kinder to our environment.
Just think when you have that Summer BBQ and all of your friends and family are oohing and aahing over your new furniture, you’ll feel proud. Proud, because it’s yours, your style with your personal touch.
Have a great Summer!
